Built in Coffee Machine

Why you should not buy built-in coffee machines.

A built-in coffee machine is an aesthetic element of the kitchen interior. But is this aesthetic worth the money? Here are a few factors to consider if you are thinking of buying a built-in coffee machine.

Assortment

There are a huge number of kitchen and home appliance companies. It would seem that with such a variety of shapes and designs, it would be possible to find a unique and suitable coffee machine. In fact, it is not true.

The fact is that most European manufacturers, producing equipment under their own brand, simply take ready-made bases from other companies. The problem is that these bases are limited.

For example, all “daughters” of the BSH concern, which includes Bosch, Siemens, Neff, Gaggenau, Thermador and others, have a single base of Bosch Tes series coffee machines. These are premium, but extremely old models, which in a discrete version are now not produced.

Miele appliances have Nivona and Melitta models as a base. More precisely, these companies provide them with slightly remodeled units.

As for DeLonghi, they make bases for almost all other European companies. They, as in the case of BSH, do not differ much from the non-built-in models. The base of Esam 6900 series is often used.

Similar units are installed even in premium appliances from ASKO and SMEG. Pluses here are only relatively inexpensive repair. The quality of coffee is good, but clearly not premium, in comparison, for example, with Miele.

Here we should not forget about the maintenance of such appliances. If at Bosch and DeLonghi the base is practically not different from discrete models (strong changes there concern only the front panel and the case), to find spare parts for built-in appliances for Nivona and Melitta bases is much more difficult. The repair itself, respectively, is very expensive.

Summary

Even with an unlimited budget, you will be severely limited in the choice of a built-in coffee machine in technical terms. The only thing you can do is to look at the actual bases that are used in modern models of this or that manufacturer. Otherwise, the models differ only in their design and a little functionality.

The built-in coffee machines manufacturing is extremely undeveloped, bases for these machines are rarely updated. Taking into account the high cost of their repair and maintenance, as well as the price at not the best quality of the prepared coffee, we would not recommend buying such appliances.
