    SubZero Repair

Sub-Zero is a fridge brand that is well-known all over America and has a reputation as a high-end and reliable refrigerating appliances manufacturer. Nowadays it conquers the Russian market by offering a wide range of high-class single and two-compartment fridges.

    Sub-Zero Story:
Sub-Zero company was founded by Westie Bakke in August 1945. His business earned success by continuous implementation of innovations in fridge manufacturing. In the first years of the company, it was designing and manufacturing industrial refrigerating equipment.

Another milestone in the development of the company was its efforts in the agricultural sector. The engineers of the company have developed special milk fridges of different shapes and sizes. These units were designed to keep 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 canisters. Such fridges could be opened from the front allowing to easily access the milk containers.

In 1947, Westie manufactured the first vertical home fridges. These models rapidly gained their popularity, and in 1950 the factory stopped manufacturing the fridges of old design (looking like a "chest")

The new engineering and design ideas of Bud Bakke and Bob Kelly resulted in more people willing to buy modern home appliances. The new equipment, including a huge metal press, was bought to implement new projects.

Vertical top-rounded freezers succeeded vertical fridges with aluminum fretwork in the market. These models were a perfect fit for an anticipated ideal kitchen of the 1950s.

However, by the end of the 1950s, there was a rising necessity not only to make individual fridge models but also a total single-style kitchen. From that moment, Sub-Zero focused on designing and manufacturing ready-made kitchens.

In the 1960s, the company was upgrading the existing models and carried out a number of experiments with built-in refrigerators that could be installed under a wine bar or a table, as well as in an office or a living room.

The so-called "refrigeration furniture" project found its market and was gaining popularity among buyers year after year. In 1967, built-in fridges accounted for 70 per cent of the company’s income.

The strong and well-coordinated team, distribution network development and continuous analysis of the sales market allowed Sub-Zero to achieve financial success by 1970.

The new fridge models designed by Wilkins had a reduced power consumption of 3 kW/h per day, significant upgrades of technical components and fridge internals, a better interior, bright illumination and a freezer drawer.

A new series of fridges that was significantly different from previous models in technicals, ergonomics and bright illuminations is said to be related to a new designer in the technical department — Jerome Caruso.

In 1981, Bud’s son James Bakke joined the company. 10 years later, James Bakke became the president of Sub-Zero.

    Sub-Zero products:
"200" Series — small fridges and freezers built-in under a tabletop. They save space and can be a perfect fit for people who don’t need to store big amounts of food. This model is equipped with an automatic ice generator and automatic defrosting system.

"400" Series — wine coolers have replaced single compartment fridges over time. An entire series of wine chillers with two compartments and independent temperature zones was designed not only for keeping wine long-term but also for cooling it immediately before serving.

"600" Series — at the end of the 1990s, a new "600" series arrived to replace the "500" that was obsolete at that time. These models were easy to use and equipped with digital control to facilitate operation. The technicals and design of these fridges have undergone many changes.

Single compartment freezers and fridges with an impressive volume of 17.66 cu ft were the first to appear on the store shelves. Sub-Zero products were a huge step ahead for the buyers thanks to a brave design solution — doors with shockproof glass.

The inability to store products on the door of this model was compensated by the ergonomic arrangement of the fridge compartment interior. Single compartment fridges were followed in the market by two compartment fridges with a bottom freezer.

Based on the varying demands of customers, Sub-Zero manufactured different models with a total capacity of 16.6-20.5 cu ft to cater big and small families alike. This fridge series had a fully built-in automatic ice generator.

Side by Side is the latest fridge model designed by the company. They were aiming for big kitchen areas of elite houses and country mansions. The usable capacity of up to 27.9 cu ft allows these fridges to store huge amounts of food that is highly necessary for dinner parties and banquets.

"700" Series — in 1995, Sub-Zero celebrated its 50th anniversary with a range of totally new built-in fridges for kitchens. Single design style creates the feeling of integrity.

This series had innovative freezer drawers that allowed much easier access to products. The buyers were offered several combined models with an opening door and pull-out drawers.

Store shelves could boast of small-size built-in freezers and fridges with a usable capacity of less than 5.3 cu ft.

Continuous development and permanent search for new tech and design solutions allowed Sub-Zero’s top-quality product to find their customers all over the world.

A huge range of products provides a broad selection of single and two compartment fridges as well as various wine coolers that can become a perfect addition to kitchen cabinets crafted in a single Hi-Tech style.
